Laptops and IT Resources

It is essential that you bring a personal laptop for use during your coursework in MERP. You will use it to access various systems:

  • Panopto – review lectures
  • Student F: drive
  • Canvas (Learning Management System) – retrieve class notes and take quizzes

Our Information Technology (IT) group is always ready to help you with configuring your computer, installing the necessary service packs and to answer any questions you may have. Due to the diversity of the makes and models of laptops, laptop repairs are not handled on campus. However, there are several local vendors available for repairs and accessories.

Recommended Minimum specifications requirement for MERP:

  • Apple OSX El Capitan, Sierra or High Sierra Laptop with the latest version of Chrome and/or Firefox installed
  • 4GB RAM (minimum required) 8GB RAM (recommended)
  • 128 GB Storage
  • Wi-Fi capable

  • Windows 8 or 10 with the latest versions of Chrome and/or Firefox installed
  • X86-X64 CPU:  Intel Core m3/i3 or AMD CPU

  • Windows RT (usually found on Windows Non-Pro Surface tablets.  Surface 1, Surface 2)

*Your computer should NOT be more than 3-years-old, this applies for both Apple and Windows computers.

 

 


 

The purpose of the Medical Education Readiness Program is to prepare prospective students to be successful as a medical student. Students accepted into this program are not being admitted into medical school, and will not be awarded any kind of degree or credential other than a certificate of completion. However, we believe that students who successfully complete the program will be prepared for the challenge of medical school.
