Participation in MERP

MERP is limited exclusively to those who have been granted conditional acceptance to either Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) or American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) and then referred to MERP. Students cannot apply directly to MERP.

Students applying to either RUSM or AUC will have their files reviewed by the respective school's Admissions Committee as part of the application process. The Admissions Committee of either medical school may grant an applicant conditional acceptance to the university, contingent upon the student's successful completion of MERP, if the Admission Committee believes that an applicant might benefit from strengthening his or her foundation in the medical sciences before starting as a first semester medical student.

The student will be contacted by a MERP representative. At that point, a deposit of $700 will be required to guarantee a place in the program.

The purpose of the Medical Education Readiness Program is to prepare prospective students to be successful as a medical student. Students accepted into this program are conditionally admitted into medical school, and will not be awarded any kind of degree or credential other than a certificate of completion. However, we believe that students who successfully complete the program will be prepared for the challenge of medical school.
